Our goal is to decentralize wireless infrastructure and democratize telecommunications, becoming the global network.

Through our custom blockchain, which uses smart contracts as our centerpiece of operations, everyone who holds our native KONE token has a say in what happens on the Karrier One network.

Our decentralized telecommunications services harness blockchain technology. The architecture of our network model comprises three layers:

By incorporating an Sui blockchain into our architecture, our network allows for open accessibility of our telecommunications infrastructure through smart contracts. These smart contracts serve as portals for other decentralized wireless projects to build through the Karrier One network.

At the core of our blockchain module is The [<mark style="color:orange;">**Karrier DAO**</mark>](/token-faq/tokenomics/governance-and-dao), a decentralized autonomous organization that functions as the "brain" of the Karrier One network. The KONE DAO links different nodes together and manages network-wide communication. The Karrier DAO not only manages network quality metrics, but also democratizes decision-making through a model of liquid democracy. This structure allows for [<mark style="color:orange;">**KONE token**</mark>](/token-faq/tokenomics/the-kone-token) holders to exchange their tokens for tickets, which can be used to cast votes on development proposals.&#x20;

# Centralized vs Decentralized telecom

## What's the difference?

Traditionally, telecommunications networks are centralized, controlled by a handful of operators that own the infrastructure. This structure often leads to monopolistic behaviour, lack of transparency, and slow innovation. With centralized telecom, if a single node or system fails, the rest of the network can experience large disruptions, similar to a game of [<mark style="color:purple;">**Jenga**</mark>](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenga).

In contrast, the Karrier One network presents a decentralized telecom solution that rewrites how telecommunications functions. Through our blockchain architecture, this decentralized approach not only offers enhanced privacy and control for users, but also opens up the possibilities for other projects to develop and integrate their solutions onto the Karrier One network. Users on our network have a voice on the future of the network they use day-to-day. This system also increases system resilience by eliminating single points of failure. Each node in the network performs a distinct function, resulting in a more efficient and reliable service.

Overall, decentralized telecommunications networks eliminates the central authority, giving more power to the users of the network and allowing for rapid innovation.


# Karrier One & Competitors

First, let's consider the traditional telecom landscape. Major Network Operators (MNOs) like AT\&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and others globally, have dominated the telecom industry for decades. They rely on vast, centralized infrastructure to provide communication services, and while they have been successful, they also suffer from several challenges such as:

* Lack of competition in certain regions leading to higher prices for consumers.
* Difficulty in reaching more remote areas with adequate service.
* A lack of transparency in service provision, billing, and contract enforcement.
* Centralized control and data ownership, which brings inherent security risks and privacy concerns.

There are more than 1,000 MNOs across the world. But there is no "global" network, primarily for two reasons:

1. **Technical Limitations:** Each MNO's infrastructure is based on a specific set of standards and technologies that may not be compatible with those used by MNOs in other regions. This makes it difficult to create a seamless global network where a user could move from one region to another without any disruption in service. While roaming agreements between MNOs do allow for some level of global mobility, they are typically expensive for consumers and are not a true global solution.
2. **Regulatory Barriers:** Telecom is a highly regulated industry, with each country having its own set of rules and requirements for operators. This makes it challenging for an MNO to expand globally, as they would need to comply with the regulations in each country where they wish to operate. It's often more practical and cost-effective for them to focus on their home markets, where they understand the regulatory landscape and already have established infrastructure.

## This is where Karrier One, enters

Large tech companies, such as Google, have attempted to create a "global" network, yet to no avail. Recently, Starlink has launched extremely innovative technology that coincides directly with Karrier One.

We are not planning to rival services such as Starlink, as we can actually connect to Starlink through the Karrier One network.

We take a different approach to "competing" with our competitors. Since we are more than just a mobile phone network, other decentralized wireless projects can build **on** the Karrier One network. We view ourselves as an integral part of the DeWi ecosystem, as a core enabler and platform for not just us, but the entire DeWi space to grow.

We focus on how we can contribute to and leverage the larger ecosystem rather than confining ourselves to a zero-sum competitive mindset. By inviting other projects to build on our network, we create opportunities for cross-examination of ideas, technology, and infrastructure.

# Remote community solutions

Indigenous communities across the globe have showcased resilience, adaptation, and cultural preservation throughout history. Often, it is perceived that these communities are stuck in time or detached from modern civilization, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

## There's an odd paradox..

In remote Indigenous territories, one might find more people with smartphones than there are people with access to reliable internet services. This disconnection isn't due to lack of interest, but rather lack of infrastructure.

Just as Africa saw an upsurge in prosperity with the advent of mobile banking, we believe that digital connectivity can revolutionize remote Indigenous communities around the world.

Karrier One’s tokenomics are designed to reward decentralized participation, encourage long-term commitment, and ensure the sustainability of the network. At the center of this model is the KONE token, which powers rewards, governance, and transactions within the Karrier One ecosystem.

KONE serves three primary functions:

* **Earn:** Users earn KONE by installing and maintaining Karrier One DePIN devices that provide network coverage, handle data traffic, and meet quality of service benchmarks.

## Bounty System

To accelerate strategic network growth, Karrier One operates an on-chain bounty system backed by 50% of each epoch’s reward emissions.

* **Target Flexibility:** Bounties can target anything from specific GPS coordinates (e.g. school rooftops) to entire underserved regions.
* **Public Bounty Dashboard:** Shows all open, claimed, expired, and fulfilled bounties for full transparency.
* **Bonding Requirement:** A small KONE bond is required to claim, and is refunded upon successful verification.

#### To Claim a Bounty:

1. Install a device in the specified location.
2. Register and lock your KONE bond.
3. Maintain uptime, QoS, and user engagement for 30–90 days.
4. Undergo oracle-based auditing and, if needed, community review.

The bounty vault rolls over unclaimed rewards, keeping them available until fulfilled.

Your Karrier One Wallet is where you can store, manage, and use your KONE tokens.

This wallet allows you to participate in the network by staking your tokens, paying for services, receiving rewards, and voting on governance proposals. Your Karrier One Wallet can be accessed through the [<mark style="color:orange;">Karrier One Dashboard</mark>](https://dashboard.karrier.one/).

As with all digital wallets, your Karrier One Wallet's security depends on how carefully you manage your private keys. Always ensure your private keys are stored safely and never share them with anyone. The Karrier One team will **never** ask for your private keys.


# How can I purchase KONE?

As of May 28th 2025, the KONE token is not available for purchase.

# Airdrop

As part of our commitment to early supporters, Karrier One has reserved **8% of the total KONE token supply** — or **240,000,000 KONE** — for airdrops. This allocation ensures that those who believed in and backed the project from its earliest stages are recognized and rewarded.

### Who’s Eligible?

The initial KONE airdrop is focused on three key groups:

#### 🐦 Karrier Pigeon NFT Holders

Early adopters who held their original eligibility were rewarded with a **Karrier Pigeon NFT**, which was airdropped as a badge of participation and support. These NFTs not only symbolized early commitment, but also served as credentials for further ecosystem rewards. Karrier Pigeons will be allocated 1.5% of the total KONE supply.

Holders of Karrier Pigeons are eligible for the KONE airdrop and **will continue to benefit from ongoing utility within the Karrier One ecosystem.**

#### 🌱 Early Adopter NFT Holders

Members of our first NFT-based community initiative - Early Adopter NFT - helped bootstrap awareness and engagement in the Sui ecosystem. Holding a verified Early Adopter NFT on the snapshot date will make you eligible for a claim. Early Adopter NFT holders will be allocated 4% of the total KONE supply.

*A snapshot date will be announced for both groups to finalize eligibility.*

#### 💧 Sui Ecosystem Communities

Select communities from the broader Sui ecosystem will be included in the airdrop. These include active collections of key Sui-based projects, contributor groups, and developer communities. As Karrier One is built on Sui, this airdrop serves as a bridge between the DePIN network and the vibrant Sui Web3 landscape. Sui communities will be allocated 2.5% of the total KONE allocation.

Sui wallet addresses from curated communities will be eligible to claim KONE tokens. Additional details about qualifying groups and snapshot criteria will be released in collaboration with Sui partners.

### How Much Will I Get?

The KONE amount each user is allocated will depend on:

* Amount of Early Adopter NFTs owned
* Amount of Karrier Pigeons owned
* Being a part of airdrop-eligible Sui communities

### Claim Process

1. **Connect Wallet**: Connect your Sui-compatible wallet to the airdrop portal.
2. **Verify Eligibility**: The portal will automatically confirm if your wallet meets the airdrop conditions.

# How are rewards distributed?

## Foundation Nodes Rewards

Foundation Nodes play a crucial role in the network and are consequently compensated accordingly for the services they offer. Here is how the reward system works for them:

* **Service Rewards**: When a user utilizes a service provided by the node operators, several nodes may be involved. For instance, in the case of a telephone call where Foundation Nodes facilitate call routing, the origin node and the destination node are key players. These two nodes undertake additional tasks such as voice encoding and decoding. Hence, all nodes involved will receive equal rewards from the transaction fee derived from the user's service consumption, except these two key nodes, which will receive a higher reward due to their increased workload.
* **Block Production Rewards**: Block production rewards comprise a fixed amount of KONE tokens, which are deducted from the total service fees included in the block.

For other types of services offered on the network, the reward system remains the same; the rewards are distributed among the nodes selected to execute the service. Additional rewards are allocated to those nodes performing a more significant workload.

## Gatekeeper Nodes Rewards

Gatekeeper Node rewards are distributed using the KONE token. Like Foundation Nodes, these rewards are disseminated to the Gatekeeper Nodes in proportion to the service provided by each node in the delivery of the service.

* **Service Rewards**: If a village node has provided mobile to its users, there may be a large Gatekeeper Node in a nearby town and multiple mesh Gatekeeper Nodes between the village and town cooperating to deliver the service. Each node earns a share of the rewards according to their role in service delivery.
* **Initial Gatekeeper Rewards**: A designated 8% of the overall KONE supply is reserved specifically for initial Gatekeeper Rewards. This arrangement is meant to stimulate the deployment of Gatekeeper nodes during the early stages of the network. The amount of KONE allocated to Gatekeepers is a fixed sum, determined by The KONE DAO, and it's based on various factors, such as the type of radio and the area of deployment.

## Operator Nodes Rewards

Operator Nodes accumulate rewards corresponding to the volume of traffic handled by the node. These rewards are allocated using the local stable currency, in compliance with the regulations of the country where the node is situated.

* **Traffic Volume Rewards**: The node's rewards are proportional to the volume of traffic it handles. These rewards are given in the local stable currency in line with the country's regulations where the node is based.


# Quality of Nodes

The Karrier One network employs a sophisticated Node Quality Grading System.&#x20;

This system is a fundamental source of information used to regulate quality control and motivate node operators through incentivization mechanisms.

### Node Quality Grading System

The grading system relies on historical quality and health check parameters. These include but are not limited to:

* **Local latency between nodes**: This measures the time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another in the network.
* **Jitter checks**: Jitter is the variation in packet transit delay caused by queuing, contention, and serialization effects on the path through the network.
* **Packet loss**: This measures the number of packets of data traveling across a network that fail to reach their destination.
* **Upload and download speed tests**: This assesses the speed at which data is transferred from and to the node.
* **Node uptime**: This measures the amount of time a node stays up and running without going down or restarting.
* **Mean Opinion Scores (MOS)**: MOS provides a numerical indication of the perceived quality of received media after it has been compressed and/or transmitted.

These metrics are evaluated *continuously*, and quality grades are assigned to each node based on these parameters.

### Transparency and Quality Improvement

Quality grades, detailing the aforementioned parameters for each node, are made publicly accessible. This transparency ensures that both node operators and the general public are aware of the performance and reliability of each node in the network.

In case a node falls below a specified grade threshold, it will be excluded from the selection pool for ongoing communication handling. Such nodes will only be reconsidered for selection after a noted improvement in their grades. This improvement is based on enhanced performance during automated background health checks.

The quality grading system serves to maintain the integrity and performance of the network. It ensures that all participating nodes meet a minimum quality standard, contributing to the overall health and reliability of the network.


# KNS / Digital Identity

The Karrier Numbering System (KNS) is our form of digital identity on the Karrier One network. KNS links your phone number to a [non-fungible token (NFT)](https://ethereum.org/en/nft/#:~:text=A%20way%20to%20represent%20anything,contracts%20on%20the%20Ethereum%20blockchain.).

## Overview

The Karrier Numbering System (KNS) is designed to act as a conduit between the traditional Web2 and the evolving Web3 domains.&#x20;

Conventional communication systems fall short of providing the fundamental attributes that enable digital engagement with financial systems, while Web3 offers enhanced digital access to blockchain ecosystems that have [Decentralized Finance (DeFi)](https://ethereum.org/en/defi/) as their financial infrastructure.
